Fall Guide: Family Friendly Races & Fun Runs

Fall is one of the best times to be a runner in Atlanta! The temperatures are cooler, the fall colors are coming out, and there are so many race opportunities to enjoy. Here are some of our favorite family-friendly fall races in and around Atlanta!

ITP Races

Stomp Obesity 5K

Date: October 21

Location: Central United Church, near Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Cost: Kids $10, Adult Walkers $15, Adult Runners $20, VIP (includes t-shirt) $30

Description: This is a non-competitive race designed to get adults and kids out and active. Every finisher will receive a Stomp Obesity medal.

Uptown Rhodes Race at the Haunted Castle

Date: October 28

Location: Ansley Park, Atlanta

Cost: $35 before 10/8, $40 after

Description: This is a stroller and dog-friendly race through one of Atlanta’s oldest and most beautiful neighborhoods. The after-race party at Rhodes Hall includes a costume contest, food, and prizes!

OTP Races

Monster Dash 5K & Kids Fun Run

Date: October 14

Location: West Forsyth High School, Cumming

Cost: 5K Registration is $30, Fun Run is $15

Description: A fun family race with prizes for best costumes!

Spooktacular Chase

Date: October 21

Location: History Powder Springs

Cost: 10K is $40, 5K is $35, 1K is free (t-shirts may be purchased for 1K participants)

Description: Dress in costume and enjoy racing through the Haunting Hills of beautiful Powder Springs! The 5K is also pet-friendly and winners in the 10K and 5K get glow in the dark medals!

Koolsteps 5K

Date: October 21

Location: Stone Mountain

Cost: Adult Registration is $35, one free child with each adult registration (Child t-shirts may be purchased for $10)

Description: This 5K includes a ZUMBA class! After the race, enjoy food, shopping, and great entertainment.

Trick or Treat Trot

Date: October 21

Location: Infinite Energy Center, Duluth

Cost: 5K Registration is $25, Spooky Sprint (500 yds) is free

Description: This family-friendly event includes arts & crafts, face-painting, food, and trick or treating fun! Serious runners can race in the 5K Peachtree Qualifiers, while kids can enjoy the Kids Spooky Sprint.

The Great Amazing Race

Date: October 22

Location: Lithia Springs

Cost: 2 person teams register for $50-$80 depending on whether you want t-shirts, medals, or both

Description: This is a 5K race in which teams of 2 run together and complete fun challenges and obstacles along the race course. There are several race divisions for different age groups and 2 levels for recreation teams and competitive teams. Come prepared to get wet, dirty, and have a lot of fun!

Monster Dash Glow Run and Little Monster 1 Miler 

Date: October 27

Location: Hobgood Park, Woodstock

Cost: Before 10/6 5K Registration is $30 & 1 Miler is $15, After 10/6 5K Registration is $35 & 1 Miler is $20

Description: Costumes are encouraged during the 5K Monster Dash and Little Monster 1 Miler! Participants will receive a glow-in-the-dark long sleeve tee and glow-in-the-dark accessories. This race is just for fun, but prizes will be awarded for best costumes! Inflatables, music, food trucks, and games are included and enjoy a post-race movie on the lawn with your family.

Johnny & Xena 5K

Date: October 28

Location: Suwanee Town Center

Cost: 5K Registration is $30, Fun Run Registration is $25

Description: This is a great, flat course that is kid AND dog-friendly. The fastest dog even gets a prize! 

Big Pumpkin Run

Date: October 28

Location: Sweet Apple Village, Roswell

Cost: $30 online Registration until 10/21, $35 until 10/27, $40 Race Day

Description: This family event features food, music, and games. Winners in each category get bobblehead trophies!

Pebble Tossers Ripple Run

Date: November 4

Location: Brook Run Park, Dunwoody

Cost: 5K Adult Registration is $25, Children 12 and under is $15, 1 Mile Fun Run is $15 all ages

Description: Teach your kids to be active both physically AND in their community! This race features a non-profit expo and hands-on activities to motivate you and your family to get involved with local non-profit organizations.

The Super Run

Date: November 11

Location: Brook Run Park, Dunwoody

Cost: 10K is $40-$50, 5K is $35-$45 (depending on registration date)

Description: The Super Run includes a chip-timed 10k as well as a 5K and a Kids Run. Obviously, everyone is encouraged to come in their Super Hero best! Awards will be given out for best costumes and there are also kid-friendly activities post-race.
