Fall Guide: Spooky Fun

If your kids are anything like ours, they’ve been planning their Halloween costumes since sometime in August! (Or maybe since November 1st of last year ; ) Well, get those costumes ready! Here are some of the best spooky/trick or treat/Halloween events for families in and around Atlanta:

ITP Events

Goblins in the Garden- Atlanta Botanical Gardens

Date: Saturday, October 22 10am- 4pm

Cost: Included w/ Regular Admission (Adults $21.95, Children 3-12 $15.95), Train Rides $3/each, Pony Rides $4/each

Description: A costume fashion parade, fall theme crafts, and a storyteller are all included with your admission. There is also a cash bar for parents! While you tour the garden, be sure to check out their Scarecrows in the Garden exhibit. 

*A similar Goblins in the Garden event is also taking place at the Gainesville Botanical Garden location.

Boo at the Zoo- Zoo Atlanta

Dates: October 21, 22, 28, 29 9:30am- 3:30pm

Cost: Included w/ Regular Admission (online tickets- Adults $22.99, Children 3-11 $16.99)

Description: Boo at the Zoo is an extremely popular event at Zoo Atlanta every year. Kids can dress in costume and tour the Zoo Boo Town, meeting lots of favorite Zoo characters along the way! Sample treats throughout the property and enjoy a unique Halloween experience!

Boo-seum at Fernbank Atlanta

Date: October 28, 10am- 2pm

Cost: Included w/ Regular Admission (Adults $18, Children 3-12 $16), IMAX films are extra

Description: Kids can wear their costumes and enjoy Halloween-themed activities, treats, games, music and more!

Halloween Night on Callonwolde Mountain at Callonwolde Fine Arts Center 

Date: October 27, 6pm

Cost: $5 in advance, $10 at the door (Children under 3 are free)

Description: This event is both unique and budget friendly! The Callonwolde estate will be decorated for Halloween, with trick-or-treating spots, games, and art activities scattered throughout the property. There will be live music & dance performances as well as a LEGO building center and screenings by Atlanta Film Society. Food & beverages will be available for purchase.

Haunted Halloween at Atlanta History Center

Date: October 20, 6:30-9:30pm

Cost: $15 Members (with special event at 5:30), $20 Adults, $15 Children

Description: The night kicks off with a Mad Hatter Tea Party and continues with spooky trails and historic haunted houses! “Scare Factors” will be posted so that you can choose which adventure best suits your family.

Day of the Dead at Atlanta History Center

Date: October 29, 12-5pm

Cost: Free w/ Regular Admission (Adults $21.30, Student 13+ $18, Youth 4-12 $9) 

Description: If Haunted Halloween sounds a bit too spooky for your taste, check out this cultural festival at Atlanta History Center! Presented in partnership with the Consul General of Mexico and the Insitute of Mexican Culture, guests will enjoy traditional crafts, food, and entertainment. 

OTP Events

Halloween Hikes at the Chattahoochee Nature Center

Dates: October 20, 21, 27, 28 7- 9:45pm

Cost: $10/person ages 2+, $1 off tickets the first weekend (10/20-21)

Description: Enjoy a fun, non-scary evening hike, guided by a CNC Naturalist. Your little ones will meet woodland animals and participate in fun music and art activities. Purchase a s’mores kit and end your evening by the campfire!

Sleepy Hollow Family Experience at Serenbe Playhouse

Date: Sundays in October 2pm

Cost: $10-$20/person

Description: The Serenbe Playhouse Sleepy Hollow Experience has been so popular, they’ve added a family-friendly experience! It’s a fun retelling of the classic American ghost story. If your kids are older or you are looking for a fun adult night out, the original Sleepy Hollow Experience is rated PG and runs Wednesdays-Sundays, September 28 to November 5.

Howl on the Green at Duluth Town Green

Date: October 27, 6- 10pm

Cost: Free

Description: This is a family AND pet-friendly event! Bring your kids and dogs to Duluth’s Town Center for fun, food, and spooky entertainment. Music, fire dancers, and aerialists will amaze both young and old alike!
