Learning to get back to the pool wall. A basic but important part of learning to swim.

Spring Break has ended, which means just a few more weeks until summer! With summer comes barbecues, camps, vacations, but most of all, time by the water. When you have kids, water can be a saving grace. It not only tires kids out, but it helps keep you cool in the sweltering Georgia heat.

But, how can you ensure your kiddo(s) is safe when it comes to time by the water? By making sure they know how to swim of course! This is where Goldfish Swim School-Johns Creek comes in!

Making sure to pick the right place can be tough.  Here is what we looked for when it came to picking the best fit four our little guy:

  1. Adult Participation. One of the first questions we get asked when we tell people that we have started swim lessons is, “Are you taking him to one of those places where they just throw them in.” The answer, of course, is no. At Goldfish, we (my husband) spend 30 minutes in the pool with our little guy each week. We are shown exactly what to do through demonstration. The classes are kept small (6:1 for infant, 4:1 for other group classes) intentionally so we get one on one attention as needed. Goldfish offers several different levels of lessons, so if your child is older, they can start at the level that is best for them. Even when we are no longer in the pool with him, we will rest easy due to the trained lifeguard that is always on duty!
  2. A friendly and experienced staff. From the minute you walk in, you will be treated well by the amazing staff and instructors at Goldfish. They are quick to answer any questions you have and help you with anything that you need. Mark, the General Manager, is always there and willing to answer any questions that you have. You might even see him in the pool teaching your child’s lesson! The instructors are certified and trained to be able to provide the most knowledgeable experience. And! Something I loved most, when you email them, they sign their emails with a friendly “Swimcerely!”
  3. Clean pool and facilityThe bright colors and tropical decor are just some of what make Goldfish appealing. The pool is heated to 90 degrees year-round and has a state of the art purification system. There is an (air-conditioned) viewing gallery for parents to sit and watch their child’s lessons. And, there are plenty of changing rooms and showers for you to rinse off and change after your lesson. If you forget anything (goggles, towel or a swimsuit) you can grab one from the pro-shop. Hungry after lessons? Grab a quick snack at the in-house Snack Shack.
  4. Consistent, but flexible. For us, it’s important that we are consistent in these lessons. Even though we have started out at a very young age, we want to make sure that as our little guy grows, he can grow with the lessons. Goldfish encourages year-round swim lessons, which offer many benefits for children. There are several different times and days throughout the week for you to choose from with many different payment options. Finding something that will work for your and your family is easy at Goldfish!

These are just a few of the things that make Goldfish Swim School-Johns Creek a great choice. If you are thinking about starting your little one(s) in lessons, let me urge you to give them a try! You won’t be disappointed!
