Selecting the Best Childcare for Your Family

When we became pregnant with our first child, we were beyond excited, but also scared of the unknown. Most importantly, we were anxious about the task of selecting child care for our family. We both planned to continue our careers and work outside of the home. While neither of us had any guilt about that decision, the idea of trusting someone we had never met to care for our baby for 8+ hours a day seemed crazy.

We have no family in town and were the first of our friends to enter parenthood, so we had a lack of resources to ask for help. We started by working on a list of questions which included our non-negotiables, like-to-haves, and budget.

For us we needed child care close to our home that would provide nutritious meals and curriculum we believed in. We chose Primrose School of Providence Pavilion and could not have been happier with the experience our children had there. It felt like we had partners in our journey. The teachers and staff were as invested in our children’s development as we were.

Being a working mom who loves her work is a joy I do not take for granted.  Sure, I have stress and feelings of failure – both at work and at home. There are never enough hours in the day and it seems if we added an hour we would add three more hours worth of stuff to do!  It does take a village to raise a child and I am beyond grateful that Primrose Schools has been a part of ours.

If I could go back and meet with my first-time pregnant self, I would give her a big hug and let her know how excited she would be to drop off her second child. I would tell her how safe and happy her second would be in her “Primrose bubble.”

Our partners at Primrose have great resources that can help you get started on your journey of selecting the right child care option!
