3 Reasons Why a Staycation May Be the Best Option for Your Family

Summer is almost officially here! And you know what that means? Yes – vacation! When we start thinking of vacations, we think of Disney cruises, fun days at the beach and lots of ice cream and giggles. But rather than doing all the planning for someplace far away, why not consider something a lot closer to home?

Why not take a staycation? Some may be wondering what is a staycation, exactly?

It’s a vacation where you stay at home.

You won’t need to worry about missed flights. Lost luggage won’t be an issue – thank goodness! No more arguments over which restaurant to eat at. A staycation allows you and your family to take it one day at a time and relax. Now that sounds like a good time to me.

Need more reasons to try a staycation? Check out the reasons below.

Discover Things You Never Knew About Your City.

One of the best things a staycation offers you is the opportunity to explore the city and find its hidden gems. Sometimes we all get so caught up in the busyness of our daily lives we look forward to packing up our families and getting away from it all. Well, friends, let me tell you, there are many amazing options we have right here that will make you want to visit many of the local attractions again and again.

Atlanta is a beautiful city with a rich history.

By enlisting the help of your family, you can come up with some great ideas of how to spend your time. Maybe you’ve heard of a fishing spot a few miles away? A new restaurant you’ve wanted to try? Want to check a new art gallery? Now’s is the time to explore them. Atlanta has plenty of museums, landmarks, and restaurants that have been part of history over the years. A staycation will allow you to learn some of the stories behind what you may already know.

Support local businesses with a staycation.

One of the things that I love about exploring the city in the summer is ALL of the festivals that are happening. Not only are there plenty of great food options at festivals, but you will also find many small business owners that you didn’t know existed.

We recently went to a festival and saw beautiful jewelry, amazing handmade crafts, tables, shirts and a host of other things. I love connecting with small business owners and seeing what they are passionate about. By supporting small businesses, you are supporting local families AND getting beautiful items for your closet or home.

A staycation a great way to get to know others in your community. It is also a wonderful way to instill in your children what entrepreneurship looks like.

When you support local businesses, it helps to keep money in your local economy. This helps the city to grow and thrive.

See your city in a different way.

A staycation helps you to see your city in a different way.  You may not get to experience all Atlanta has to offer. When you jump in your car to head to work and are stuck in traffic, you don’t get to appreciate all that is here. It is more than just where your workplace is. Atlanta is a thriving city with lots to offer residents and visitors alike.

Maybe you’ve wanted to visit some nearby places, but didn’t have the time. Imagine taking a hike on a Wednesday afternoon when most people are at work. Or rent a bike at one of the many stations around town and explore a new neighborhood. The possibilities are endless.

By taking a staycation, it can help you feel more connected to the city. You will learn more about the city itself, its history and the residents that work so hard.

A staycation could be the very thing that prompts you to invite others to our great city to take a vacation.
