3 Toddler-Friendly Restaurants in Henry County

Since moving to the Atlanta area, I’ve been excited to explore with my toddler. But, before we set out to capture the culinary Atlanta, I thought we would venture a  little closer to our home in Henry County. Whether you are reading this as a Henry County local or looking for a good day trip, here are the boy-approved, toddler-worthy, new-to-us food treasures we found.

Shane’s Rib Shack

McDonough

When we lived in Kansas City, my husband got me to try EVERY major barbecue place. So, we love us some good barbecue! But besides the food, let me tell you what I love about this place. First, it’s the original Shane’s Rib Shack. I don’t know how many Shane’s shacks came after it, but I know it’s a popular meeting place here in Atlanta. Secondly, it has a PLAYGROUND! Yes, you heard that right. Sit back, mom and dad. Let the kids run around while you savor some sauced ribs. This makes it the ultimate kid-friendly restaurant in my book!

ATL MOM Tip: If you decide to order a burger, it’s a 20-minute wait, but everything else is ready when ordered.

Mellow Mushroom

Stockbridge (also in nearby Conyers among other ATL locations)

What my son loves about this place is the metal man standing guard outside the restaurant and the psychedelic lights inside. What we both love is the food! However they make their dough, we’re a big fan. And, they always pile high the toppings. Mmm!

ATL MOM Tip: Try the pretzels! Made with the same dough from the pizza, they are, as my son would say, “delicious!”

Chic-fil-A Truett’s Grill

McDonough (There are also ones in Griffin and Morrow)

How neat is this place! Little doors for little people. A model train circling the place. And, you can order a burger. Yes, that’s right, in honor of Truett’s first diner, at Truett’s Grill they have a diner menu, unlike the Chik-fil-A fast food restaurants.

ATL Mom tip: Decide ahead of time how many times your toddler can press the train button. I usually allow him to press it once when we arrive, after he finishes eating, and then again before we leave.

Okay, moms, your turn. What are some of your favorite toddler-friendly restaurants in your area of Atlanta?
