5 Ways to Throw A Beautiful and Affordable Baby Shower

If baby shower season is a thing, it appears to be now! I’m personally throwing two showers as well as going to I don’t know how many at this point. Hosting any type of shower can be fun and exciting but can also get expensive. So here are a few tips if you’re ever in need of some affordable shower ideas.

1.Think Simple and Classy

In the age of Pinterest and feeling the pressure to have perfect looking everything, it’s easy to get carried away with wanting to buy all the pretty things and make everything look just right. But for most of us, we just aren’t able to afford all that stuff. Instead, think simplicity like small flower arrangements, candlesticks, and a banner. Simplicity goes a long way, don’t overdo it.

2. Use What You Have

An easy way to save money is to use what you have. Find those platters that you got for your wedding, the punch bowl passed down from your grandmother, and the pretty vases you’ve collected over the years. Try to utilize all the nice things you already own to save money! If you don’t own many nice things, ask a friend!

3. DIY What You Can
I have a small stockpile of crafts upstairs. So, when I’m hosting something I look to see what I have before I buy anything. For example, I made two hoop wreaths. I already had two embroidery hoops so I only needed the greenery. The “Oh Baby” sign was made by a friend of mine. (Yes, I lucked out on that one.) Ask around and see what types of things others can contribute, you might be surprised!

4. Ask For Help

Don’t feel like you need do everything yourself. If you have mutual friends with the woman you’re throwing the shower for, ask them for help. Anything from bringing food, to helping make some decorations, can help your budget and your time! A friend of a friend made this stunning cake for a fraction of the cost a local baker would. It was as good as it looks! My motto is always “when in doubt ask for help.” Throwing parties can be a lot of fun but it can also be stressful, time-consuming, and expensive. There is no shame in asking for help and it’s usually more fun to have people pitch in any way!

5. Pay Attention to the Details

The details can go a long way at a shower. Adding pretty details is easy, affordable, and adds a classiness to the party without blowing your budget. For example, I ordered these adorable wooden utensils in bulk on Amazon. They added a sweet touch. Plus, I was able to use them for two showers and still have some left over.
