Mommy Groups Leaving You Frustrated? Welcome to The Village!

Almost four years ago I became a mother for the very first time. Sleep deprived, terrified, confused and lonely I, like many others, turned to Social Media to vent and find others that understood what I was going through. Little did I know how stressful these groups could actually be.

Regardless of what stage your children are in, you’ve likely encountered “Mom Shaming” at some point. And, thanks to outlets such as Facebook, it has become more prevalent than ever.

Social Media has allowed us to hide behind the computer screen and become what I like to call, “keyboard warriors.” A few of the hottest topics in these groups are feeding, diapering, vaccinations, circumcision, birthing, and education. In all honesty, it’s practically impossible to go to one of these groups and not find any drama. This is where we come in…

We are excited to introduce you to our very own ‘Mommy Group,’ called Atlanta Area Moms -The Village, which we launched on Facebook. We promise to provide each and every one of you a safe space to ask questions and vent, free of any and all “Mommy Shaming.”

Our community Mombassadors will act as admins and moderators, all while providing the same great local information found in our old Neighborhood Pages. We hope to bring all the wonderful communities around Atlanta together, as one, to create our very own village. One where everybody is nice, respectful, and supportive. Please find us on Facebook and request to join.

We look forward to seeing you in The Village and being part of your Tribe!

  1. Hooray! Mommy groups have the potential to save all our sanity when they’re done this way! Looking forward to a new safe space. =)

    • I absolutely agree! The “harassment” has to stop somewhere, and I’m thankful this group has been created to help all moms navigate these crazy times.

  2. Loved this article and couldn’t agree more on the “keyboard warriors”. These are the women that love to ignore their child/children, while enjoying their wine, condemning other women acting justified and just generally a no it all, never offering real advise and as stated above, a safe haven. I am looking forward to reading more heartfilled articles!
