Things that Make my Life Easier as a Mom

Ah, motherhood. It’s such a beautiful thing. But let’s be real…sometimes it can be stressful. There days where it seems like everything is under control and balanced, but some days where you feel burnt out. I’ve been there, and just recently, I realized I needed to make some changes to get over that feeling of being burnt out and overwhelmed.

I’m sure there are other moms and parents out there that may have felt (or are currently feeling) burnt out so I thought I’d share some things that have made my life easier as a mom.

Shopping online: I have never really liked shopping online. Honestly, I’m still getting used to it, but I have to admit it’s been really convenient. I’ve only really shopped for items that are not clothing or shoes. However, I love that The Children’s Place offers free shipping every day, and there’s no minimum purchase required. A few days ago, I was planning on going to the mall to get some summer clothes for my kids, but I was really exhausted, and I also wanted to avoid going on out in the near 90-degree weather. So I made a purchase and the next day, I received a shipping notification! I’m sure there are more moms out there that may be hesitant to shop online, but I think everyone should try it.

Keurig Coffee Machine: I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, I love my Keurig coffee machine. I’ve noticed I drink a lot more coffee than I ever did before. I’ve saved so much money from merely making my own coffee at home. I’ve also saved a lot of time and gas. My coffee is made in just a couple of minutes and all in the comfort of my home.

Meal Planning: This is somewhat new for me. I was always the type of person that didn’t really make a plan when it came to cooking meals. Now that I have three kids, I realized I had to make a meal plan. The afternoons were just too hectic, and I wanted to avoid any disasters (i.e., food is still raw, taking too long to cook). Once a week, I check my refrigerator, freezer, and pantry for things we need. I make a list of snacks and lunch items we need. For dinners, I try to look at what kind of meats and sides we have. Then I look up recipes and think of our go-to meals. Once I have all of the ingredients on my list, I look up sales and digital coupons at my local grocery website. I love shopping at Publix. Their website has their ads listed and a page to select digital coupons. You can even check the upcoming sales ad, the day before it goes live.

Readjusting my housework to do list: This was something I absolutely needed to do. I noticed my to-do list was incredibly long every day. I’m the type of person that tries to do a lot in one day and has to have everything on my to-do list crossed out. The main thing I have changed is my cleaning schedule. Instead of having one big cleaning day with other small tasks sprinkled throughout the week, I have been choosing to focus on one room a day to clean. For instance, Mondays I might clean the living room, Tuesdays I’ll clean the bathrooms, and so on. As for laundry, I’m still trying to figure out how to readjust my laundry schedule. I may start doing a load of laundry a day instead of just picking one day to deal with the never-ending laundry. With three kids, my husband, and myself…laundry can pile up really fast. Readjusting my housework has really helped, and everything just feels so much more balanced.

How do you avoid feeling burnt out? What are some things that have made your life easier?
