When I was 38 weeks pregnant with my first I found myself sitting at the baseball field watching the son of a close family friend play competitive youth baseball. At that moment I realized one of the perks of parenthood would be watching my kids experience some of their proudest moments when playing sports. My oldest is now 4. When we play t-ball or soccer in the backyard I get the biggest smile when he smiles because of his own home run or goooaaalll.
Since he is only 4, I didn’t think there were a ton of sports options out there. That is until I found out about Kids in Sports and met Leah Vanater, the Atlanta area leader for the program.
Kids in Sports is a multi-sport training program for kids 12 months through 6 years. The mission is not to create the next great athlete. The mission is to ensure the next generation is just as successful off the field as they are on the field.
Their program ensures the skills they learn in each class will translate to the homes, classrooms, and communities of each kid. Kids in Sports goal is for every child to walk out of classes with a new life skill, an appreciation of an active lifestyle, a love of sports, a sense of achievement, and a new friend. The specialized curriculum is designed to enhance the parent-child bond while also fostering self-confidence. Classes are focused on developing hand-eye coordination, fine and gross motor skills, and a greater understanding of sports. But, the classes are doing more than teaching kids how to throw a ball. They believe in showing kids how to be a good teammate, how to take instruction from a coach and how to push themselves to go beyond their limits. In addition to classes, Kids in Sports offer sport specific clinics, all-sports camps, and birthday parties.
Another perk about Kids in Sports is their desire to build community! They encourage all families to create real and lasting relationships that will benefit your🕐 child and you, as a parent! They help build the village it takes to raise a family.
